Gabrielle-Roy terminal

In fall 2023, the provincial government announced a $33 M investment to expand the Cégep de l’Outaouais’ Gabrielle Roy campus to offer new programs and accommodate approximately 1,500 additional students. This modernization of the campus will increase student and staff transportation needs. Thus, the Cégep has undertaken a sustainable mobility shift in collaboration with several regional partners, including the Société de transport de l’Outaouais (STO).

Redesign of the bus terminal

The Gabrielle-Roy terminal at the Cégep de l’Outaouais, in the Hull sector, was built more than 20 years ago, and its infrastructure is no longer up to current standards or operational requirements. Some of the design and furnishings need to be upgraded, along with the sanitary facilities for our field staff. In addition, the number of platforms falls short of our current and future requirements.

Work is currently underway to modernize this important public transit hub.

By fall 2024, the new terminal will have:

  • 12 platforms capable of accommodating regular and articulated buses;
  • facilities that meet universal accessibility standards;
  • 5 double bus shelters;
  • 2 semi-enclosed and heated waiting areas;new urban furniture (regular and leaning benches, lamp posts, etc.); and
  • variable message panels displaying information for riders in actual and planned time

Benefits to riders:
A safe and efficient terminal which meets universal accessibility standards. Modern and functional new urban furniture (heated bus shelter, bench, trash bin, VMS, etc.)

Timeline:

Summer 2024 : Construction:

Fall 2024 : The new terminal should be up and running in the fall. The work will not be completed by the time classes start, but there will be no interruption in transit operations, and temporary stops will be set up around the Gabrielle-Roy campus.
