Fares on a card 

If you plan to travel frequently on the Société de transport de l'Outaouais (STO) system, get the Multi card to take advantage of the passes that can be loaded on it.

Passes are not refundable after their start date.

Supplements required for boarding

If you have a pass for regular routes and wish to take an express or interzone route, a supplement is required when boarding the bus. It must be paid with the e-wallet or in cash.

A supplement is also required if you have a pass for express routes and wish to take an interzone route.

Other fares and payment methods

If you only take the bus occasionally, the options below are the best ways to pay your fare when boarding the bus. A supplement may be required.

Multi

The Multi is a smart card that:

• Is personalized and not transferable because your name, rider category and photo appear on it. You are therefore the only person who can use your card;
• Is loaded with one or more STO pass giving you access to the routes in our system;
• Offers an e-wallet allowing you to pay your fare (as you would with a paper ticket) or to pay the required supplements.

Conditions for obtaining a Multi

You can get your Multi card exclusively at one of the 3 service points or at the issuing centre for $8 (tax exempt). Only residents of Quebec are eligible for the card.

Your student status must be renewed every September at a cost of $8 (tax exempt).

The following supporting documents are required to obtain a card:

Secondary students:

• Quebec health insurance card (issued by the RAMQ) or Quebec driver's licence (issued by the SAAQ);
• Proof of age (under 21 years of age on September 1 of the year of issue);
• ID card issued by the academic institution.

College students:

• Quebec health insurance card (issued by the RAMQ) or Quebec driver's licence (issued by the SAAQ);
• Proof of age (under 21 years of age on September 1 of the year of issue);
• Proof of full-time registration at a Cégep or your course schedule. A student ID card is not accepted as valid proof.

Students at a recognized academic institution other than a secondary school or Cégep:

• Quebec health insurance card (issued by the RAMQ) or Quebec driver's licence (issued by the SAAQ);
• Proof of age (under 21 years of age on September 1 of the year of issue);
• Proof of full-time registration at an academic institution recognized by Quebec’s Ministère de l’Éducation, du Loisir et du Sport.

Once the Multi card has been issued, it can be recharged at any time at one of the 3 service points, the issuing centre or one of the recharging sites.

• If your card is lost, damaged or stolen, go to one of the 3 service points to get a new Multi card and its contents for a fee of $10 (non-taxable). If your card had no cash value, a fee of $8 (non-taxable) is payable.
• If your Multi card is defective, it will be replaced at no charge.

Unlimited travel for the entire month!

The monthly pass is loaded on the Multi It gives you unlimited travel on the STO system for the entire month (from the first to the last day of the month). It is ideal if you take the bus often in a month.

Check the conditions for obtaining a Multi before you go to one of the 3 service points or the issuing centre to get a Multi on which your pass will be loaded.  

You already have a Multi?

You can recharge the card at any time at one of the 3 service points, the issuing centre or the different recharging sites. You can even recharge your pass for several months. Avoid the line-ups and recharge your card before the end of the month.

With unlimited travel for the month, ZAP is a very economical pass that offers great freedom.

It is available exclusively for full-time students aged 12 to 16 on September 30 of the current school year who are registered at a secondary school in Quebec.

ZAP gives students aged 12 to 16 access to unlimited travel:

• Weeknights after 5 p.m.;
• Every weekend;
• All statutory holidays;
• During Christmas and spring break.

More advantageous than the student monthly pass, the Cégep Forfait Cam-Puce pass is a reduced fare semester pass valid for 4 months. It is available exclusively for full-time students registered at the Cégep de l’Outaouais.

To be eligible for the Cégep Forfait Cam-Puce pass:

• Your student number must appear on the list of eligible full-time students at the Cégep de l’Outaouais;
• You must download your course schedule by clicking the ICO icon on the Cégep de l'Outaouais home page. You will need to show your schedule when you buy the Cégep Forfait Cam-Puce pass. If you cannot download your schedule, go to the registrar’s office at the Cégep or call 819 770-1057.

To get this pass, go to one of our 3 service points during the registration periods with:

• The duly completed enrolment form, which is available on-line;
• Your Cégep de l’Outaouais student card;
• Your Cégep de l’Outaouais course schedule for the desired semester; 
• Your smart card if you have one;
• Full payment in cash or by debit card.

Registration periods

During the registration periods, the STO has a stand at the Cégep to make it easier to get the Cégep Forfait Cam-Puce pass.

Cégep Forfait Cam-Puce passes are not refundable after the start date.

This is the ideal pass to make the most of the summer!

The summer pass is exclusively for full-time students aged 12 to 20 who have a valid Multi for the current school year. This pass allows unlimited travel in July and August and is loaded on the Multi.

The summer pass is not refundable after the start date.

Simple and easy to use, it can be loaded on your Multi card at your usual retail outlet.

The e-wallet:

• More savings
• No need to have change to take a bus
• Paperless transfers
• Can be transferred if it is lost or stolen
• Soon rechargeable on line

You can put from $10 to $50 in your e-wallet.
(At some recharging sites, the e-wallet can be loaded in dollar increments only.)

2 ways to use the e-wallet:

• To pay for occasional trips by means of an e-fare
• Combine it with your pass to pay for supplements on express and interzone routes

When you pass your card in front of the reader when boarding the bus, the reader:

• Confirms that your trip is valid
• Debits the fare or supplement from your e-wallet
• Displays the balance available on your e-wallet

A fare debited from your e-wallet entitles you to an e-transfer that is valid for 2 hours starting from when you first boarded an STO bus.

Simply pass your card in front of the reader again during the validity period and the transfer will be accepted.
