STO Fare Payments Valid on OC Transpo

New Confederation Line

From November 1, 2017, OC Transpo is starting its customer testing of new fare gates and ticket machines in some stations on the O-Train Trillium Line, including Carling, Carleton, Confederation and Greenboro stations. Fare gates at Bayview station won't be activated until the Confederation Line opens.

STO passes and transfers are accepted across the OC Transpo network, including at the new fare gates. Customers with a valid STO paper transfer will be able to show their transfer to OC Transpo staff who will open the gates. STO tickets and the Multi e-wallet are not accepted at Trillium Line stations or aboard OC Transpo buses. In order to begin a trip on an OC Transpo route, customers who pay-per-ride must buy an OC Transpo single ride ticket or pay using the Presto e-Purse.

The following fare payments are accepted without a supplement on OC Transpo regular routes and the O-Train:

Your e-wallet and interoperability with OC Transpo

If you pay using your e-wallet on your Multi card, make sure you trip starts with the STO. Afterwards, you'll be able to use your e-wallet to transfer to an OC Transpo bus during the 2-hour validity period of the e-transfer.

How to use your Multi on OC Transpo buses

1.  Tap your Multi on the PRESTO reader

  • A green light shows that your card has been validated

2. Then show the driver the side of your Multi card with the photo

3. If you get a red light:

Fare payment is required

You must pay your fare using another payment method. In this case, ask the driver for a proof of payment (in case of a control by an agent on the bus). If you think it could be due to a technical problem, please go to one of our Service points.

Your receipt is not a fare payment

Just a reminder that your receipt is no longer accepted as proof of validity of your Multi card when you pay your fare. Instead, it is used to validate your transaction at a retail outlet. We advise you to keep it as a proof of purchase.

STO fare payments not accepted by OC Transpo

Please take note that The Passe-temps can only be used by a single rider only on the OC Transpo network. As for the STO's routes, it can be combined to other promotions such as the Family Fare.

STO Attendant Privileges Card

Upon showing the STO attendant privileges card, the attendant accompanying a rider with a visual impairment can travel for free on the OC Transpo system.

Riders who are being accompanied must pay the applicable OC Transpo fare or according to the options mentioned above.
