Safety tips
To make sure that you and other passengers are safe:
- When several people are waiting at a bus stop, form a line to avoid any incidents;
- When getting on the bus and during the trip, if you must stand, hold the rail or grab bars;
- If you feel ill or are in an uncomfortable situation, let the other passengers or the bus driver know.
Courtesy stop
The courtesy stop service is intended especially for passengers who are alone at night and, for safety or mobility reasons, want to get off closer to their destination or in a location that is better lit than the regular bus stop. This service is available after 9 p.m. every evening on all routes in the Société de transport de l’Outaouais (STO) system.
To use the service, just ask the bus drivers, who will then stop the bus at the spot they feel is the safest between two bus stops.

Help keep our public transit system safe and secure.
The STO and OC Transpo are especially concerned about keeping the system safe and efficient. Whether you are a regular or occasional rider, you are invited to take an active part by staying alert and paying attention to what is going on around you while you are using public transit services. If you notice an unusual situation or a forgotten package at your stop or on the bus, report it to the bus driver or call 819 310-2828.

Did you see someone vandalize a bus, bus shelter or STO property?
Contact Crime Stoppers at 613 233-8477. Your statement will remain completely confidential and no identification is required.
It is also important to notify the STO so that the damage can be repaired.
Vandalism destroys public property and is not a trivial matter. Vandalism is a crime. It is therefore important to be alert for it. The public transit system belongs to all citizens. Let’s be aware and work together to keep it clean and safe!
